The horizon is often obscured by low cloud, especially early in the morning, so it is not so common to see the sun actually rise out of the sea. But when it happens it is wonderful.
Although we don't get such good views of sunset, we still get some fabulous late eveing skies, like these golden clouds taken on 16th August 2005
Another evening sky, taken two days after the previous photo. Summer evenings, when the wind has dropped, the sea is tinged with pinks and the beach is empty, are a very special time.
The sea has many moods, here it is getting a little rough. On this picture, taken on 7th April 2005, you can just see one of the North Sea gas platforms on the horizon in the middle of the picture. One a clear day we can see three platfroms from our house.
