This is now the only pond left in Bacton. It belongs to Eddie Haylett who lives in the house centre of picture. The Hayletts are an old Bacton family; there was a William Haylett living in Bacton in 1811.
This was taken from Mill Land looking up towards the church. The half-seen house on the right is Bacton Fish & Chip shop (very good!); the building in the centre is where the Mundesley doctors come on Mondays & Wednesdays; the house on the left belongs to Eddie Haylett (see picture of pond).
The village hall has just been extended and refurbished, thanks to a major lottery grant. There are now two halls (the large one having a sprung floor), a well-equipped kitchen, a small room where the Post Office runs three mornings a week and plenty of storage space.
The Duke of Edinburgh pub is opposite the village hall.
Bacton has a second newsagent and convenience store, here seen next to Paul's, the hairdresser.
